DescriptionChildren’s literature provides the building blocks that create the foundation for literacy, communication, social-emotional learning, awareness of diversity, and much more.  High-quality children’s picture books are intentionally designed teaching tools, and the best books address more than one topic.  A well-written picture book has layers that speak to multiple domains or areas of learning and delivers content to both the student and the teacher in an artful way.

Come along as we explore and discuss different subject areas under the broad umbrella of children’s literature, investigate what components make a good book, and take stock of what educators and providers need to fulfill program standards.

PLUS ...
Great Books = Great Kids:  How the BEST Children’s Literature Launches Engagement, Connection, and Learning
Children's book author Lola M. Schaefer will share how her writing process, from initial idea through revision, centers on children and what they will enjoy and remember. She will guide everyone through activities that heighten the learning and understanding of content while engaging children in meaningful thought and discussion. Join us for an afternoon of powerful books and their impact!

AND ... We will review several of the best new books ranging from board books to titles for preschool and young school age.  This is a day you don't want to miss!!
