DescriptionChildren’s literature provides the building blocks that create the foundation for literacy, communication, social-emotional learning, awareness of diversity, and much more.  High-quality children’s picture books are intentionally designed teaching tools, and the best books address more than one topic.  A well-written picture book has layers that speak to multiple domains or areas of learning and delivers content to both the student and the teacher in an artful way.

Come along as we explore and discuss different subject areas under the broad umbrella of children’s literature, investigate what components make a good book, and take stock of what teachers need to fulfill program standards.
